Important Notice to eBay account holders: change your password immediately.
eBay has released a statement (21st May 2014) stating that their internal and customer databases were compromised by hackers earlier in the year (between late February and early March). As a result of this, they are prompting everyone to change their passwords.
The hackers accessed names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, and encrypted passwords. However eBay stated that financial information such as credit card numbers and other sensitive data are held in a separate encrypted database which was not compromised. However, all eBayers should change their passwords nonetheless.
To change your password: log into your eBay account, and click on your name in the upper left corner. Select ‘Account Settings’, then ‘Personal Information’ on the left side of the page, and finally ‘edit’ next to your password.
